September, 2010 ~ Let Your Heart Sing with Kundalini Yoga!

Yogi Bhajan Quote

"In the beginning, the middle and the end it is you and you only.  So live well in your inner peace and inner strength. And when you feel weak, call on your soul, your best friend."

~Yogi Bhajan

Living Like a Yogi

What You Wear

Ever notice that when people who live in equatorial climates dress up nicely, they usually wear white? The reasons are many - it feels good, it reflects the light and heat - but the answer is simple: it uplifts.

In white, you glow; your aura literally expands. In the visual spectrum, white is also the sum of all colors. That means that your aura is doing what it is meant to do more effectively: expanding and yet remaining contained. In fact, containment is the name of the game. Increasing power is one thing, having the wherewithal to use it consciously is another. Here's a simple example. If you go out to a restaurant dressed in white and order a dish with a bright red sauce, you are going to bring an elevated level of consciousness to your meal. You become powerful through the increased awareness of your surroundings. It means sitting and eating while maintaining awareness of the royalty of your soul and your radiant body. Containment means remaining centered in relation to all this new information. Try it. Wear white for one day or maybe a few. Watch your radiance grow.

Guru Ram Das' birthday: Global Meditation

September 29 - Oct 9

Special Sadhana - Saturday, October 9th, 4:15 am

On October 9th, the global Kundalini Yoga community celebrates Guru Ram Das' birthday.  Guru Ram Das is considered the patron saint of Kundalini Yoga and the spiritual guide of Yogi Bhajan. Some consider him "The Lord of Miracles".  The 11 days leading up to his birthday is a very powerful time for the fulfillment of prayers.  Its a time of great blessing. Communities all over the world will join in celebrating his life and legacy.  Join these prayers from September 29 through October 9 (11 days preceding the birthday anniversary) by chanting Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for 11 - 31 minutes.  On Saturday, October 9th, join us at Spirit Rising Yoga for a special sadhana where we will chant Dhan Dhan Ram Das Guru for two and a half hours.  We'll start at 4:15am with Jap Ji Sahib and a short yoga kriya to prepare us for chanting.  Come when you can and stay as long as you are able.  Even a few minutes of this vibration will uplift you for the day and beyond! For more information about this sadhana or about the chant, please contact us at Spirit Rising and we'll be happy to give you more info on the chant and guidance for this elevating practice.
